Create A Remarkable Brand.

How We Work

You are an established (or aspiring) entrepreneur with a product in need of an outstanding visual identity.

Or maybe you've been burned by a designer in the past who was uncommunicative, unreliable to meet deadlines, or just plain bad at understanding the project.

We are different. We work intimately with you to build a remarkable food brand.

What we do: we are a branding and packaging consultancy, helping startups, small businesses and entrepreneurs communicate through the use of creative design. A logo design, a naming or renaming project, reviewing your copy and messaging to make sure you’re reaching the right people... all or any of these things are under the scope of what we can do for you depending on what your situation calls for.

Typically, we find out what we are going to work on by going through an on-boarding process (some people call this a discovery process) to figure out what you need. It's a series of conversations to give us a better understanding of you and your products. It’s about figuring out where you are now and where you’d like your business to be in the future. We want to figure out what will help accomplish your long term goals and not waste your time and money on things you don’t need. To do that, we need to make sure we are doing strategic work, and strategic work requires us to be thoughtful.

Once this discovery process happens (typically 1 or 2 Skype conversations, or email exchanges), we'll put together a proposal with deliverables, timeline, pricing, payment schedule and terms.

We offer project pricing instead of hourly pricing (so no need to ask our hourly rate). Doing so allows you to know exactly how much you’ll be paying for the project. You won’t have to worry about hourly rates and unexpected cost overruns. We prefer project pricing because charging by the hour puts us in opposition to each other from the start; you are incentivized to keep hours down, so you pay less, and we are incentivized to work as many hours as possible to profit more from the project. That’s not the type of relationship we like to have with our clients, so we price with value in mind and set the price from the start.

We offer a choice of packages, each with a set of deliverables greater than the next. These packages vary based on the scope of work with at least one package that fits your budget range today.

The typical project ranges between $5,000 and $20,000

The standard payment plan requires 50% of the total project price as a deposit upon agreement signing, and the remaining 50% balance to be paid in monthly installments. We also offer monthly payment plans without the deposit over a set amount of months. Talk to us to find out more about this. Discounts of up to 10% are available for payment-in-full at the time of the contract signing.

If you are like us, you hate surprises. So we like to minimize the unexpected as much as possible. If we are doing visual design work (which is likely), we'll include a mood board to help define the direction we want to go in and give you a sense of what we are going to deliver. A mood board is a collection of images that will give you an overall idea of the design direction we will be taking. Think of a Pinterest board of related designs which we draw inspiration from.

We use Conceptboard (online software) for this visualizing phase so you can easily share your vision with us and be a part of the process. How much or how little you are involved is up to you. The choice is yours.

When we present the design choices, we present them in context so you’ll have an excellent idea of what your brand will look like in the real world. So for example, if we are designing a new wine label, we'll present the design mocked up on a wine bottle instead of showing you a 2-D image of the label.

We use Dropbox to keep everything organized and store any files related to the project; logo files, documents, presentations, etc. What’s nice about this is that you’ll always have access to your project files when you need them. If you’ve ever needed a file only to find that the person in your organization that has access to them doesn’t work for you anymore, then you’ll appreciate being able to be in control of all of your assets.
